The developers of the UbuntuDDE Remix distribution announced today the release of UbuntuDDE Remix 21.10, the latest unofficial version of Ubuntu with Deepin Desktop Environment (DDE).
Based on the release of Ubuntu 21.10 (Impish Indri), UbuntuDDE Remix 21.10 runs on the same kernel as the previous version, Linux 5.13, and contains the latest versions of the Deepin Desktop Environment (DDE) and related software packages available at the time of writing.
In addition, UbuntuDDE Remix 21.10 comes with an updated DDE Store to version 1.2.3 for easier package management, the Calamares graphical installer for easier installation of the distribution, and updated illustrations from Ubuntu 21.10 and Deepin Linux distributions.
It also includes several major bug fixes from the Deepin Linux distribution, as well as fixes for some serious problems present in previous versions, such as black screen freezes when trying to log in and Snap volume display in the file manager.
“I would like to thank our wonderful community and our generous donors, patrons, sponsors, supporters and well-wishers for their motivation and support throughout the cycle,” said Arun Kumar Pariyar, UbuntuDDE Remix Project Manager.
Of course, most of the pre-installed apps have been updated to the latest versions from the Ubuntu 21.10 repositories, including Mozilla Firefox 95.0.1 as the default Web browser and LibreOffice 7.2.3.2 as the default office suite.
Like Ubuntu 21.10 (Impish Indri), UbuntuDDE Remix 21.10 is only supported for nine months. However, given the fact that this unofficial version appeared two and a half months after the upstream release, it will be supported until the end of September 2022.
